One place to maintain
The website, the background tasks and the test environments run in the same place and are set up in the same way. The team now only needs to know one way of working.

The platform moved in steps from several hosting providers to one place, at the same address and with simpler maintenance.
Ad Your Service is an online marketing agency with a platform of its own for its marketing work. That platform consists of a website the team works in and a part that carries out tasks in the background, and these ran at different hosting providers. I moved the platform to one place in steps, keeping the same address and the same behaviour.

An approved change goes live in the website and in the background tasks at the same time. Going live no longer differs per hosting provider.
A test environment is built in the same way as the live platform, so what the team sees in a test matches what goes live afterwards.
BEFORE
The website ran at one hosting provider and the background tasks at another, and a test environment needed both. Each provider had its own settings and its own way of putting a change live, so maintenance had to be done in several places.
THE USUAL APPROACH
The usual approach is to move everything in one go. If something then goes wrong, it is not clear what caused it and the way back is long. That is why the move went in steps, each of which could be rolled back.
THE ORDER
The background tasks moved first, because nobody works with them directly. The website and the test environments only followed once that part was running stably in the new place.
THE ADDRESS
The platform keeps the address it had; only where that address points to in the DNS changes. For everyone who works with it, everything stays in the same place, and no connection with an advertising platform has to be registered again.
WHAT STAYS
The database stays where it was, because every test environment gets a database of its own there. Only what makes the platform run was moved.
THE WAY BACK
The old environment stays in place until the new one has proven itself. If something goes wrong, the address points back to the old environment.
GOING LIVE
Since the move, an approved change goes live by one fixed route: the website and the background tasks are updated at the same time. The test environments take the same route.
CONTROL
Every step comes with the same checklist, before and after: signing in, making a connection, fetching data and the scheduled tasks. Only when the outcome is the same does the next step begin.
The platform has been running in one place since August 2026. The team maintains a single environment, and a test environment matches what is live.
